Nowadays, the performance of an air transport industry serves as an indicator of its country’s
international competitiveness and impacts related businesses such as high-tech industries.
Korea’s air transport industry has developed continuously over the years and has maintained its position
as the world’s 6th biggest market.
To respond to the changes in the industry, Gimpo International Airport has newly transformed itself into
a multi-functioning airport, and thirteen other regional airports are also working on finding new roles.
On the other hand, Incheon International Airport is successfully operating as the hub of Northeast Asia.
As for the airlines, national flag carriers have diversified their development strategies and as a part of
such strategy, they established strategic alliances with other carriers.
Korea Civil Aviation Association(KCA) will continue its strenuous efforts of fostering sound institutions for its members to achieve steady growth and to enhance their competitiveness in the rapidly changing business environment of the global air transport industry.
